Swing Set Drama!!!

So we decided to get Parker a swing set for Christmas since we finally have a big enough yard to put one in. But we didn't want to wait until Christmas because that's kind of a lame present in the middle of the Winter. So we decided to give him his present a little early.

Well after shopping around we found this one we really loved but decided that the $500 fee for installation was a little too pricey for us & that we'd simply put it together ourselves (big mistake!!!) We got it about 80% put together when we realized that the "A" frame part was put on backwards & we pretty much had to take the whole dang thing apart for that one tiny mistake. The instructions should start off by saying:
#1. Make sure you follow us to a T or you will be utterly screwed sooner or later, likely later when you're just about finished and have no more will left to continue.
#2. You really should just pay the installation fee.
#3. Really, you still want to put it together yourself? You idiot!

Anyhow about 2+ weeks later and working late into the freezing cold night we finally got the darn thing together. It almost cost us our marriage & our sanity but we did it. The things we do for our kids!

The funniest thing of all though was the whole time we were putting it together Parker kept trying to climb on it & play on it when it wasn't safe, but now that it's done & all safe he's terrified of the thing! Jason was out mowing the lawn & said,
"Park come play on your swing set."
Parker replied, "No, too scared Daddy!"
To that Jason promptly stated, "Parker, it cost $$$$$,
and took Daddy two weeks to set up, you better go play on your swing set son!"

So, moral of the story:
a) $500 is never too much money when it comes to your marriage & sanity!
b) Don't count on that big exciting moment, your kids don't really care how much it was or how long it took you!

That is so funny, I was laughing out loud. Yes when trying to work as a couple, things can get really frustrating. Cool swing set though!!!!

Thats funny!! Alan instisted on putting Jaimen's together by himself, yes almost cost us his sanity too. And Jaimen doesn't want to play on his either. He will only go down the slide if I climb up in the tower with him, and I make him go down. He will only swing if I swing next to him. Ugh... your right the things we do for our kids!!
